Report by Emy Yap
We had a great time! The trip was pleasant, Nigel Schumacher drove
the BMW through bends and curves and with such speed and stead. We had
the company of Hannah chatting away at the back while her nanny
swooned with the sway! I was invited again to direct the event and the
getaway to the mountains was timely as the school holiday tapers off
that week. Hannah met up with Suanne again and they had a bit of fun
while Hannah helps to enter the score and keep rooting Suanne on
everytime she wins a game. "Way to go, Suanne, great show!"
I did not bring enough warm clothings...again. Fortunately my savior
came in the form of Paulette who graciously lent me her jacket.
The competition started on time and without a hitch, well, maybe a
small one, when the group from Singapore came shuffling in after the
briefing. They missed it entirely of course but it was alright because
there wasn't any problems over the rules, not from them anyway. We had
one game before dinner, which was a sumptious barbecue buffet. 2 games
were played thereafter and by that time, we were all quite knackered.
This shall not be too lengthy...the competition went well. There
was some challenges that came back wronged but not more than the usual
human errors you would find in tournament of this nature. KC Tan had
once again outdid himself in organising this event for the 3rd year in
a row. He had a huge backlog of work that had to be postponed but he
persisted!
There was some funny stories to be heard, like the reason why the
Singaporean contingent were late..was that Dylan realised he left his
passport at home while filling up the Immigration forms along the
Causeway! He looked different this time round, probably more matured,
longish hair (tinted with a groovy kind of colour),cooler-like dude,
hey man..! Hannah says he looked like a girl! The other one heard was
Paulette telling that she sewed some kind of cloth with a button
attached to it, to be placed onto the pulse of the hand, and that was
supposed to stop car sickness. Three out of 4 in the car she was in
didn't get sick on account of wearing it!
Stopped by the strawberry farm, the Waterfalls and the Boh
Plantation on the way home. This time the ride was not as pleasant.
The rain didn't help much but all in all, a wonderful trip. Thanks
again KC and Equatorial Hill Resort. I will let John update you with
the results.
